Christopher:

My son Mitch and I built the Ultimate for his electronic music class at Woodward Academy in Atlanta, GA. He has just finished his junior year there. The electronic music teacher challenged his students to build a theremin for him. Evidently the challenge had been going on for several years; and no one had build one until now.

Construction went very smoothly- from the etching of the circuit board to the initial checkout. Both oscillators were very close in frequency and easy to tune. The only issue was that the house is very close to tower sites of several AM stations, and the sound we were getting from the theremin was very raspy. Also the rf interference made the theremin tricky to tune when the antenna was connected. However, when he got the theremin to his school, there was no AM station interference and the theremin sounded pretty good.

His teacher was pretty impressed and Mitch got an "A" and an "Excellent" for the course. I've attached some photos and an mitch.mp3 that Mitch made at school.
