Raw Sounds

ult-2c_sound .mp3 (136 kb) using the configuration in the photo above and the notes below. This generates a natural sine wave  which is the starting point of developing other theremin voices using electronics or acoustics. Please note that no reverb or effects are used in order to keep this sound pure. The signal is very noise free and the CdS volume control method adds zero distortion. The output of the CdS volume sensor feeds directly into the computers microphone input using Audacity.

Same as above, see if you can hear how a bit of reverb is an unnatural sound.

Adding certain types of distortion will transform the pitch from being a simple whistle sound.

For those of you who might not know, this is the true analog  theremin sound.
Not sound that has been pasteurized and processed (faked).

Lev's theremin is about capturing a sound, a voice from heaven. This requires the correct coils and a clean analog circuit. Often I mention that calling today's digital method a theremin is like calling a keyboard synth a piano, maybe some musicians do?

The "Beach Boys" are not the only ones who misrepresent their whistle box. A theremin is more about capturing the organic sound as Lev experienced, only then can we focus on controlling this sound without touching the instrument?

Playing my linear pitch field gives you the musical note C0 located 20" to 24” away from antenna.

With the pitch tuned linear to use note C0 to C5 range, C5 can still be 10” from the antenna, remarkable!
The extra octaves next to the antenna are what the ferrite & air coil combination add to my newer design.
