 The Sixth Voice
100% Radio Shack

The Radio Shack component cost is about $20 usd

This Sixth Voice board will reshape a Square Wave into a near perfect Sine Wave with character..

Sample 1 => ult6_8.mp3 (176k)
Using the Ultermen Div/2 Output

The Sound Output is beamed from LED 1 & 2 modulated by the output of the TLO82. These are two super bright at 3000 mcd minimum output.

 A hand held
Solar Cell retrieves this sound at a distance up to 24" for an excellent volume control method.

View the
volume control  handheld Solar Cell page.

OR

( -A builders suggestion-)
For direct Sound
output instead of using the recommended LED's take the signal off of the plus side of C5 and negative ground. The output signal level is at .6 volts so you must use a amplifiers microphone input.
(Not a Line Input)

If you do the above you don't need components
Pot 1, R6, R8, R9, LED 1 and LED 2

Change C5 to a .22 uf capacitor

Warning: If you reverse the battery connection you will damage the TL082 chip! (-;

* Connect it to the RS Ultermen 5  div/2 or div/4 output for a warm & perfectly symmetrical sine wave sixth voice.

* Connect the
Ultimate 2 output and get excellent wave shape mixing and added intensity.

* Connect it to the RS Optical Theremin output for that real theremin sound and use a hand held solar cell for  volume control.

* A simple Tannerin theremin designed around a 555 chip can have an excellent Tannerin sound using the sixth voice output.

* Use the Sixth Voice to add an LED modulated beam output to any theremin.

* A 555 chip outputs a harsh square wave, reshape it into a warm sine wave theremin voice "sound"

The finished PC Board is 1.7" x  3" (42 mm x 75 mm)
Pot 1 drives the intensity of LED 1 & 2
The output Audio modulates these LED's

Pot 2 adjust the output from a soft square wave into a sine wave.

Pot 3 adjusts the input level which can also enhance the output sound.

Etching your own PC Board
It is easier than you think!

Due to the increase in project e-mail, time wise I am unable to give construction support to this circuit.

The PDF file looks crude when viewed in Adobe Acrobat but prints with crystal clarity!

You can save the file below by Right clicking your mouse on it and then click "Save Target As"
