. The board copper oxidizes within a day, coat any unused wire pads with a thin layer of solder! The pink components are all that's needed to make a $25 Theremin that transmits sound through a AM Radio up to 2 feet (60 cm) away. Add the rest of the components later for a Dual Voice or a Line Level output theremin. Transmitting through a AM Radio is not very useful for music but works excellent for classroom demonstrations, tuning and troubleshooting. It also lacks any method of volume control. .

You could use two of the standard 2" short 3/4" sockets. The boxwinder handles make this possible. The total of the 100 turns of wire are about 1.15" (2.8 cm) in width. Start winding about 1/8" from one side which will leave room for a mounting bracket on the opposite side and the tuning screw plug. You should add all three center taps to both coils so you don't run into a mounting direction problem later on.

Foam Tape - 1/2" wide double side adhesive use to secure the wire wraps and hold the coil in the clamp.

Handheld Volume Control - You can purchase this solar cell later at Home Depot or Lowes

Solar Cell - I removed it from a Malibu sun-powered yard light - Model LZ1 D $9.98 and also the Malibu Model LZ6 $8.98 USD, these are located in the Electrical Section of the store.

Take the Solar Cell out of the box and tap on it with a coin and make sure it is not glass! (It Should be Epoxy)

The above solar cells are the most effective I found. They output in the 2 to 3 volt range in sunlight.

The RS solar cell 276-124 will not work and the Malibu LZ403 L will not work, it is made of glass.
